Still Dreaming of Corsica and A Few of My Fave Things From The Summer
Corsica, you left quite the impression and if I must, I’ll share you with the rest of the world.
Corsica is a pure and utter delight.
While there is a part of me that wants to keep this Mediterranean gem a secret, I reckon this beauty is about to have her moment in the spotlight. Known as the rugged kid sister to the polished yet oversaturated Côte d'Azur, Corsica boasts charming coastal towns, jagged mountain ranges, and crystal-clear beaches, rivalling shimmer from Lizzie Taylor’s jewellery box.
I’ve been dreaming of celebrating my birthday in Corsica for eons. I can’t recall exactly how I first stumbled upon this island, but something about it resonated with me. So, in January 2020, I made the decision—this would be the year! I would welcome my 36th birthday on the coast near Calvi at the end of June. Well, you know what they say about best-laid plans… Lady Rona had another agenda.

Summer Round-Up
I’m not thrilled about it either, but sadly, summer is coming to a close. It feels like I took a cat nap on a sun lounger in May and woke up to it being the third week in August. While we have a few more juicy summer weeks, I’d like to share some of my favourite things from the past few months.
Fiscal Responsibility is Sexy
Yeah, that’s right. And, if you’re looking to save more, invest more, or get a little more familiar with your money, Tori Dunlap of Her First 100K is a welcome resource. She has a bunch of valuable resources on how to get better educated when it comes to you and your finances. Of the posts I’ve seen from Tori this summer, her “Summer Savings Challenge” has been my favourite. It’s simple: whenever you hear Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”, you transfer $10, £10, or 10€ into your high-yield savings account. Over the summer, I've personally managed to save around £170 from this challenge. In fact, while editing this Substack, I had to pause and transfer a tenner as soon as the tune started playing.
The Importance of Good (And Pretty) Bedding
I absolutely adore the UK, but one crucial thing missing from this country is good ‘ol air conditioning. And while my Dyson works to burn the midnight oil, it’s a crapshoot whether or not I’ll get some shut-eye night-to-night. That’s where Sukun Bedding comes in. I had their Candy Cane Bundle on my wishlist for months and finally treated myself to the new bedding bundle as a 40th birthday gift to myself, and I’m so glad I did. I’m obsessed with every single piece from Olivia Dar’s collection — and with all her gorgeous designs and shimmering beads it’s easy to see why. Her pieces are designed and made in small batches and feel so distinctive against a sea of generic fast fashion jewellery. Talk about love at first sight.
